A Rising Star: Annabelle's Soulful Journey Through Music
When I first met Annabelle at the tender age of nine, I was immediately struck by her spirit and immense talent. Even then, it was clear she was destined for great things. Fast forward to today, and Annabelle has taken the next step in her journey, releasing her debut EP, Hey There, on Apple iTunes and Spotify.
Annabelle's music is a soulful and captivating experience that showcases her vocal prowess and emotional depth. Each track on the EP is rich and vibrant, resonating with authenticity and raw talent. Interview with Annabelle
"Maybe So" touches on some deeply emotional and adult themes. What inspired you to write about these topics at such a young age?
I wrote that song when I was about 14, and I was experiencing, for the first time, the kind of pain you feel when someone you love is making a bad decision or looking for answers in all the wrong places, and there's nothing you can do to stop them. All you can do is keep loving them where they are, even when they reject your love.How do you feel your life experiences have shaped your music?
The songs I write are often about real-life experiences. Sometimes they are personal, and sometimes they are written as more of a narrative loosely based on real experiences. I think, as with life, my music has some of the happy and lighthearted themes, and some deeper themes as well.When I first met you, your love for life, creativity, and free spirit were evident. How do you keep that spirit alive in your music today?
Music is a creative outlet. I think it's so important to have some kind of creative outlet because it keeps our minds young, and always looking at the world with new eyes.What message do you hope to convey through your music, especially to other young people who might be going through similar experiences?
Self-expression is good, so long as you are not deceiving yourself. You do not need to label yourself or categorize your experiences because your life is uniquely yours. Be authentic.Your journey as an artist has been incredible to witness. What do you see as your next steps in both your personal life and your music career?
I'm dreaming big! I want to travel the world and get involved in missions. I hope I can use my music as a tool in that. I'll keep writing and releasing music as long as I can. I also love performing live and interacting with an audience.How do you balance the pressures of being a young artist while staying true to your own voice and experiences?
No matter what you are doing, someone is going to tell you that you are wrong. Someone is going to hurt you, devalue your work, and make you feel small. In fact, it might be a lot of someones. But I always remind myself Who determines my worth, and though it can be difficult, I try to forget about pleasing anyone else.In what ways do you hope your music can impact or connect with others?
As Emily Dickinson aptly put it, "If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain."As someone who has known you for many years, I’ve seen you grow both as a person and an artist. How do you feel your music reflects that growth?
Artistically I would say I've gotten a little more adventurous. I like to get away from the formulaic structure of the average contemporary song, I love crazy melodies and key changes. I'm getting bolder as I'm getting older.What role has your creativity played in helping you navigate the challenges of growing up and the transition into adulthood?
Writing of any kind helps me process my thoughts. It's like plucking them out of a tornado in my head and attaching them to a page where they can't get away. Growing up is an angsty time, and letting go of childhood is frightening. But I think recording these thoughts and worries in writing music and art helps me hammer them out, look at them rationally, and move forward.What advice would you give to other young artists who are trying to find their voice in the world?
Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young. Act your age, no more, no less. And remember, there is a time for singing solo, and a time for singing your part in the choir. Either way, your voice is heard.
Annabelle's journey is just beginning, and it's clear that her passion for music and her deep connection to her creativity will continue to carry her forward. As she grows as an artist, we can only expect more moving, soulful music that resonates with people of all ages. Keep an eye on this rising star, because her journey is far from over.
